The Litter-Robot 5 Pro, a high-end model from the OG robotic pooper scooper company Whisker, promised to revolutionize cat ownership with its AI-powered features. However, after six months of testing, the AI features fell short of expectations, leaving me disappointed. The robot struggled to recognize my two distinct cats, often merging them into one, and its health monitoring system provided little value. Despite its impressive build quality and quiet operation, the Litter-Robot 5 Pro's AI capabilities are still a work in progress. In my opinion, Whisker has fallen into a common trap of overestimating AI's capabilities in real-world settings. While the robot excels at its core function of scooping waste, the AI features are not yet ready for prime time. I would recommend saving money and opting for the regular Litter-Robot 5, which offers all the essential features without the camera. The Litter-Robot is a fantastic invention, but the 5 Pro's AI features are still a work in progress, and I would caution against buying it based on promised future updates.
